DO NOT EVER BUY WITH CARVANA!!! I purchased a vehicle from them this past December 2023/ I took it to the shop like they said did everything exactly as the " Warranty stated." Well My car still isn't fixed they say I'll have to pay out of pocket and they won't reimburse me.

Come to find out they put an aftermarket catalytic converter on it before they sold it to me and it is actually incompatible with the car. They ran me around in so many circles after taking it to the shop, renting a rental car till my Warranty ran out of time even though my original shop diagnostic date and mileage was still in the time frame. DO NOT BUY FROM CARVANA, the Warranty SILVER ROCK is a joke and will not reimburse or cover anything like they state in the warranty.

I would give them ZERO stars if I could its a horrible company that screws over hard working people. SAVE THE HEADACHE AND MONEY STAY AWAY FROM CARVANA!!!

An expensive Carvana dealership opened in my city with a giant, vending machine like display of cars. It was many stories high. Government shut them down promptly.

How can somebody be SO STUPID as to buy ANY used car sight unseen?

Carvana spelled my last name wrong on my title and my registration!!!

Then when I call nobody answers the phone!!! Finally I get through.

I explain: They or their 3rd party who sends out the plates and reg spelled my last name wrong. They said legally they could not fix this and said only the lien holder Bridgecrest could fix this and one hour on the phone for nothing. Next up? Bridgecrest, the lien company one hour on the phone with them to finally tell me only Carvana could fix this.

I go to the DMV.

They cant do a thing without the title.

On and on we go. Dont buy a car from Carvana.

Failure to Refund & Extremely Poor Customer Support

Bought a 2023 Kia K5 Jan 7, 2025

I decided to not go through with the purchase, and they cancelled the order Feb 18, 2025 & sent an email saying my refund was being issued to the payment method originally used, well I had switched banks due to my employer switching, so I switched to BMO Harris, so I wouldn't have a monthly fee since it would be direct deposited. I continuously get emails from Carvana saying the same exact thing as the refund email says at least 1-3x a week, I finally was able to speak to a customer advocate whose name was Tony who escalated the issue to the Treasury Department, but it would take 72 hours for a response so he had issued me a ticket #424994 and was told he was going to schedule me with a call back with me for a follow-up, in which unsurprisingly he never did. Was also told my down payment refund would be issued by a cashier's check to my mailing address on file.

Corrupt practices. Terrible customer service.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My dealings with Carvana can be best characterized as corrupt. I bought a vehicle with them in January 2025.

I put $12,000 down on a car costing $27,000, arranging through them a loan for $15,000. They took my $12,000 but failed to apply it to the loan. After sitting on my hard-earned money for 3 months, they said, essentially, 'Oops,' and refunded me the money. In the meantime, their loan vendor, Bridgecrest, was collecting my regular payments on a loan of $27,000 (the one that was supposed to be only $15,000).

Somehow, Carvana failed to apply my down payment and give it to the loan vendor. Although they admitted it was their error, they refused to redo the loan for the correct amount, saying essentially that I could just stick with the big loan and apply the refunded down payment to it (keeping the conditions of the loan at the higher interest rate and larger monthly payments). I have, at this point, spent countless hours on the phone with them, being transferred from department to department. Although they admit it was their error (and there are lots more details of the way they screwed this up), they will not fix the loan.

Shameful business practices. Shameful customer service. I'm embarrassed I ever initiated business with them and strongly advise others to avoid the same.

Read up on them. Lots of evidence that they are not a reputable business (class action lawsuits, etc.).

Carvana lied.Car never had Carvana Inspection. It Failed an Independent Inspection Unsafe Brakes, Badly Leaking Water Pump, Frayed Timing Belt, Filters Filthy and Full of Leaves

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Updated by user Mar 28, 2025

I'm filing a complaint with the District Attorney for fraud

Original review updated Mar 12, 2025
I bought a car from Carvana. In San Diego.

I drove it immediately to a dealer for inspection to make sure that nothing had been missed in Carvana's famous "150 Point Inspection" which Carvana said the car passed. They lied.
The car failed an Independent Inspection in 8 areas. The water pump had been leaking for a long time; the timing belt was worn and frayed; dangerously warped rotors on all 4 wheels; other issues that were not as serious, but are further evidence that the car could not have passed any inspection by Carvana.
I contacted a Carvana "advocate" explained the results of the inspection I had done and asked "Is Carvana going to pay to have the car repaired so it will be in the condition the Carvana website stated it was in? If not, I want to return the car "
This led to a week of misdirection about Carvana's warranty company even though I kept saying, "This is not a warranty issue.

This is a fraud issue."
The dealer did work with the warranty company which of course only approved the least expensive repairs and wanted me to pay $350.
I kept asking if Carvana would pay for the repairs and did not receive a direct or honest answer for my question.
It is interesting that at no time was Carvana able to locate or produce a copy of the 150 point inspection report for this car. They told me the inspection had been done by a Carvana "partner" so they didn't have a copy. They told me the inspection report had been deleted at the time of sale. One "advocate" gave me a copy of the Experian report which is about the car's title.

Another one told me the list with 6 or so green check marks on the website was the inspection report. It's kind of insulting when someone insists that 6 equals 150.
They say they have a 7-day return no questions asked guarantee too. That's not true either, at least the no questions part.
For three days I told Carvana I wanted to return the car. I kept asking if there was some process we needed to do to make the return.

For three days Carvana "advocates" argued with me about why I wanted to return the car *and would not help me return it!*
Finally I just copied the comment about wanting to return the car and asking how to do it, then I pasted that in response to every stupid question he asked until, finally, he asked if I wanted to return the car and started the return process.
Even returning the car was a nightmare! For three days their driver did a no-call No-show on picking up the car. I finally just had the car towed to the Carvana dealership.
I was asked to sign some paperwork when I returned the car, but I read it first, and I'm very glad I did. If I had just signed the form, I would have waived all rights to sue or pursue criminal charges against Carvana.

I also would have been responsible to pay Carvana if it didn't resell the car quickly.
After 10 days of being lied to and disrespected my Carvana nightmare is over.

I even have my money back in my account. (Be careful, they also wanted me to agree to let them keep my money for another 15 days!)
Now I will be writing letters to the DMV (they sold me a car with defects, including safety defects without a complete written disclosure prior to sale which is illegal in California.), the California Consumer Protection Dept., and the Attorney General so they can evaluate Carvana's business practices and determine if the state will pursue criminal charges.
Never buy from Carvana!
You cannot trust Carvana to be truthful!

If you bought this thing "AS IS" you can pursue whatever action you want but you have NO CASE! YOU agreed to go into this STUPID deal with the car in whatever shape it is and all repairs are on you.

If you READ the documentation, (which you probably did not do BEFORE you agreed to its terms), you would see if it came with a warranty or was an AS IS purchase. More importantly, this is exactly what happens when someone with ZERO COMMON SENSE buys some used car sight unseen.

Instead of paying a lawyer to tell you what I just did for free, use that money to pay a doctor to see why the elevator doesn't reach the top floor. Only an absolute fool will send off their money to buy a USED CAR they've NEVER SEEN OR TEST DRIVEN and THAT is an absolute FACT!

I purchased a 2019 Kia Niro on 7/16/2024. When I drove the car off of the lot, I noticed that the air conditioning did not get cold.

I contacted Carvana and they told me that I would need to get in contact with an approved mechanic as after the car is purchased the third party insurance would be responsible for the repair. On July 20th, AutoNation Mobile mechanic came out and determined that there was no freon in the car. They recharged the freon and when they inspected again they determined that there must be a leaking valve so they replaced a valve. This repair was covered by SilverRock.

I did not drive the car again until July 27th. At that time, I found that once again there was no cold air coming from the air conditioning. I reached out to Carvana and attempted to escalate the issue and requested that I would be allow to return the car after the 7 days, reminding them that I had reported this issue within the 7 day window and was told that I had to get it repaired instead. The AutoNation Mobile mechanic came back out on July 31 and at this time they determined that the evaporator unit would need to be replaced.

I was required to pay a $100 deductible for this repair. On August 8th AutoNation Mobile mechanic returned to install the evaporator coil. He literally disassembled my car in my driveway to do so. In the process, my windshield was broken.

I was told by the mechanic that the company would take care of replacing the windshield. After a few days without hearing from anyone regarding the windshield, I was told that the local manager denied that his team was responsible for the window and that they would not take care of the replacement. The crack went all the way across the window. I could not drive the car in this condition, so I paid out of pocket and had the windshield replaced.

After doing so AutoNation's escalation department contacted me and told me that they would cover the cost and they would send me a check to reimburse me. I have not gotten that check yet. On August 9th, I drove the car and found that the steering wheel was out of alignment and was at the 3 o'clock position. On August 11th, AutoNation returned and took the car into a tire shop to realign the wheels.

On August 12th, I discovered that the USB port was not functioning and that the car was revving and jumping after coming to a stop and then releasing the brake. After taking the car on the highway, I also discovered that there appeared to be a transmission issue potentially as when accelerating to 60, the engine would rev and it would feel as if the gears did not engage/switch. The USB was FOR SURE functioning before my car was disassembled to replace the evaporator coil. On September 6th AutoNation returned once again to diagnose the reported issues.

They were not able to reproduce the transmission issues that I reported but they did determine that the USB itself was not working.

They needed to order the part and I have an appointment to get it repaired on September 15th. I was required to pay a $100 deducible once again.

What you're saying is YOU wanted to buy a good, trouble free used car which would provide trouble free service, right? Upon driving that USED CAR off the lot, as per your words, you apparently didn't even bother to take that thing for a TEST DRIVE, did you?

Otherwise, as YOU checked each and every accessory for proper operation, YOU would have discovered the AC problems! What other problems are there since you havent the slightest clue as to the condition of that car because YOU didnt use COMMON SENSE to check it out BEFORE you bought it! What in the world is wrong with you people??? Why not put on a blindfold and cross the businest street in your town?

Where in the world do you people come up with this stupid idea of buying USED CARS without checking them out first? Absolutely, positively incredible!

Recent Experience Disappointing

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Updated by user Mar 25, 2025

Carvana never offered me a resolution.

Original review updated Mar 25, 2025
My most recent first experience with Carvana was disappointing. In early February 2025, I saw a Model X that I wanted to purchase and wanted to use my Model Y for a trade.

At first, I noticed in one of the photos that there was damage to the front driver door trim that was loose, but it was not indicated in the photo. The photo was for the paint chip or scratch on the door. I contacted support to notify them of the error and to see if this issue could be rectified before purchasing the vehicle. At first, I was told that I would have to purchase the vehicle first, which was listed at $40,990.

The advocate online tried to convince me that there was nothing wrong with the trim (I have the photos and the screenshot of the conversation). I didn't get anywhere with the chat advocate, so I decided to contact a support agent via phone call, who agreed that the trim was damaged in the photo, and he told me he would reach out to the service team to inform them and ask why the trim damage wasn't also noted in the vehicle details. After about three days, I received an email and phone call that the trim was repaired and the vehicle price was dropped to $40,590 for the Model X. I was pleased with that until another issue came up during the purchase process of the vehicle.

The price change did not reflect in my account. So, I contacted the chat advocate again and could not get the situation resolved. I had to contact support by phone again, and the advocate said she would notify the tech team. I waited again for several days for the decreased price of the vehicle to show up in my account summary so that I could finally complete the purchase.

Upon receiving resolution and the decreased price of $40,590 showing up in my account, I was glad that I could finally continue with the purchase process. Another issue came up while completing the process again. When I edited my down payment, I finally got the monthly payment to where I could afford it, so I thought, until I noticed somehow the Gap Coverage got canceled and the monthly payment increased beyond what I could afford. When the tech department went into my account to fix the issue with the decreased price not showing up, I believe they canceled the Gap Coverage, and my monthly payment increased.

I tried talking to advocates to no resolution. I began to research for other options and noticed that the Model Y vehicles with similar features but with higher mileage than my Model Y that I was using for a trade-in were priced well above what Carvana was offering for my trade at the time, which was $24,600. I decided to try and get a better offer for my Model Y trade-in vehicle with only 26,200 miles. The Model Y's Carvana was selling had much more mileage and with the same features.

I knew for sure I could get a fairer offer. I requested a manual appraisal, which took more than two weeks to resolve, and the trade-in offer was lower at $23,100 today, March 20, 2025. After all of the hassle and inconvenience with trying to purchase the Model X vehicle, I was so offended and highly disappointed with this offer for my trade-in vehicle. What a horrible experience to go through for a month, only to be highly disappointed with Carvana's practices in the end.

After deciding not to complete the purchase because of the low trade in offer for my vehicle, I saw that Carvana lowered the price of the Model X but the car was no longer available in my cart account nor was it available in inventory. So disappointed by this whole experience!!!
Pros:
  • Great inventory of vehicles
Cons:
  • Live agent could not help my situation

Preferred solution: To be fair, I deserve a higher trade in offer for my vehicle and also decrease the price of the Model X vehicle I would like to purchase.

User's recommendation: Call and speak to live agent over the phone. Research for yourself and do not allow Carvana to minimize the value of your trade in.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

This is the worst financial transaction I have ever made with any other vendor and a top dollar one. I canceled my vehicle purchase on the 10th, the same day that I put in the order.

At the end of the day, they took out the money for the vehicle and still, after 15 days, have not refunded me the money for it. There is absolutely no one to talk to that can give you any more information than they have. That seems to think that they can answer your questions and be tolerated for their answer. It's no wonder that Carvana only has one percent of the online car market; they are the worst.

In the meantime, I have no transportation, I am paying for a transfer of the vehicle, and the car never left the lot that it was on. They have about $16,000 or $17,000 of my money now and still no refund.

Original review Nov 17, 2024

Throughout the process of picking the vehicle I wanted and submitting all the necessary information and paperwork, I was promised a delivery date of 11/19/2024. I notified my HR department about taking that day off.

However, as soon as I e-signed the contracts, they automatically changed the delivery date to 11/23/2024, with no option to change it back to the original date of 11/19/24. Now, I'm losing money from my job because, as your service representative tells me, it was a glitch in your computer system.

Is this the way customers are regularly treated once you have their signatures? I will have my company lawyers investigate other possible actions I can take because this is totally unacceptable.

Guess what? Its your opportunity to cancel this SENSELESS purchase of a USED CAR you've NEVER seen or TEST DRIVEN!

Everybody has a friend, relative or maybe themselves who have had a bad experience with a used car. Why in the world would you or anyone else even remotely consider buying some used car, sight unseen? No sensible person would wver do that.

Cancel that purchase and buy where you can test drive and have your own mechanic check out a car before you buy or sign anything! Carvana is a Carnival for those without COMMON SENSE!

Went and had the oil changed at about 3,200 miles after service that was not recommended for another 4,500 miles, but trying to be proactive. I found the oil pan drain plug was stripped during the last oil change that was supposed to be done prior to the delivery of the vehicle, or an oil change was not performed. Either option is unacceptable.
